Audio Cassette - Common consumer format during the 1970's and 1980's
Standard cassettes held 60 minutes, some up to 122 minutes per tape
Micro Cassette: Very small tape used in mini voice recorders
Tapes can hold up to 2 hours, depending on speed
Common in the 1980's and 1990's. Still used today
8 Track - Common during the 1970's and the early 1980's
Consumers could record onto 8 track or buy pre-recorded tapes
Tapes could hold a little over 1 hour
Vinyl LP - Comes in various speeds; 16, 33, 45, 78
Could hold up to 1 hour of audio
Commonly used since the 1930's. The audio CD contributed to the
near demise of this format - some say vinyl is coming back.
